Who We Are

We are experienced experts. Our consultants and trainers have the education and real-world knowledge to provide superior insights and guidance to our native and non-native English-speaking clients. Even though we specialize in ESL, over half of our clients are Americans who want to improve their speaking, writing, and communication skills.

We have a proven record of excellence. In over nine years of providing customized training programs, we have received positive evaluations for all of our courses. We have trained engineers, technicians, supervisors, executives, scientists, administrative assistants, military personnel, and other professionals in a great variety of fields. Our success is apparent in the large number of repeat clients and client referrals we have had. We design courses to be interesting, interactive, and immediately applicable. We focus on the practical, not the theoretical.

We are a small, woman-owned business. We are certified through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council and are SWAM certified. We are also registered with the eVA online procurement system.

Dr. Maureen Archer, President and Founder of Professional English, holds a Ph.D. in English Linguistics from Purdue University. She began teaching English-as-a-second-language (ESL) adults in 1987, and has taught college courses in linguistics, grammar, writing, ESL, and teaching ESL (teacher training). Dr. Archer publishes articles and gives presentations on English and cross-cultural communication topics.
